Guitar

As the microphone turned out quite successfully, I decided to make a guitar.

1) I created two planes, add pictures of top and side on then

2) I then create box, make it roughly correct size, (box must be see-through to make easier)

3) I then changed it to an editable poly, adjusted the vertex to the edges of bottom picture, to get the shape

4) I then selected the polygon mode, (I had to adjust the placing of the polys here), I then selected the poly where the hole is on the guitar and deleted it

5) I then select the edges on the top and bottom of the guitar and chamfer them 0.01

6) I then had to add a mesh smooth modifier with 3 iterations and a shell modifier inner 1 and outer 0.01

7) Using the pictures as a guide, it was then possible to start making the heel. A box was created to the correct height and width. The amount of segments was changed 5 lengths 1 width 7 heights

8) It was important to make the box not too big to begin with, as at this stage the box was changed into an editable poly and the vertex were moved to define the circular shape

9) The poly made was then selected as with the top row. The extrude tool was then used to pull them out. This can always be pulled in and out after extrude has been used

10) It was then just a case of selecting certain ploys and extruding them out to the shape at the bottom and the ploys were extruded out, to make sure the bottom of the heel was complete. The ‘hole’ polys were then deleted. The ploys were then moved down to create the bend on the heel.

11)Pegs – the pegs were made by creating a box and then changing the amount of segments to 3 in length. This was then converted to an editable poly, and the corners were moved in.

12) The two middle lines were selected, and using the connect tool to create two connecting edges. The pinch value also had to be defined.

13) The middle section was then extruded to the desired amount, then chamfered the edges finally a mesh smooth modifier was added to the peg. The pegs were placed in the positions (according to the picture) and cloned.

14) Bridge – I created another box and changed the amount of segments to 3 length and 2 width. It was again converted to an editable poly and vertices moved to create the shape.

15) Strings – these were made by creating very thin chamfer circles, and then they were given the desired length. To make sure the strings went into the pegs, it was important to bend them in the correct places, which was quite tricky

16) Finally materials were added to the guitar and the planes deleted
